Man, oh man, nobody enjoys getting their period. It makes us bloated, crampy, and just overall miserable. We sit down to watch the new episode of Grey’s Anatomy and 30 minutes later we’re ugly crying while elbow deep in a bag of salt and vinegar chips. No, just me? Well, fine then.
It is also important to note that while these tips and tricks are handy, they aren’t miracles! You cannot expect that your period will come immediately after any of these tactics. My suggestion is to experiment with what works best for your body *because we are all different*, and be patient with your body.
Start these tips a few days before your period is scheduled to arrive in order to give your body time to properly adjust.
#1 Manipulate your birth control. Many people choose to play around with their birth control in order to force their period to come faster or skip it entirely. Personally, this freaks me out and I would not recommend this. I have many friends who do this, however, and they haven’t had any issues. But, I worry enough as it is, I don’t need the extra worry.

#2 Do the deed. Man, sometimes I say phrases and I sound like somebody’s dad. I apologize. You don’t do the deed… SEX. You have sex. This is said to help you get your period faster. Just enjoyable, so why not?
#3 Chill the heck out, man. If your period has ever been late, you know that stress causes your period to be late. In contrast, if you relax your body, you may get your period to come faster. #4 Exercise your buns off. It has been proven that physical activity releases endorphins that cause you to relax *which we just said was a way to get your period to come faster*. On the flipside though, if you work out too often, it can make your period come later or not at all. It’s all about balance, baby.
#5 Eating pomegranate or drinking its juice. Eating pomegranate is said to make your period come faster, and it tastes fantastic, so why not? Pomegranate also has plenty of other benefits such as fighting various cancers and lowering cholesterol.
#6 Ginger. Apparently consuming ginger is said to make your period come faster as well. It causes heat within your body. Interesting. Learn something new every day. If you pair ginger with honey, it increases the chances even more!
#7 Just another use of turmeric. Wowza, the number of things I have heard about turmeric lately is actually incredible. This is just another reason it is powerful! Some people boil water and put a tablespoon of turmeric in it and drink it, while others mix turmeric in with their various recipes. However you ingest it, turmeric is said to increase the odds of getting your period faster.
#8 Pumpkin spice everything? Okay, so not necessarily pumpkin spice. But if you make the conscious effort to include more pumpkin in your diet, you will see that your period will come much faster! Pumpkin contains carotene, which is said to make your period come faster. Rejoice–pumpkin pie for everyone!
#9 Spongebob’s house…? Similarly, to the effects of ginger, pineapple increases the heat in your body which is said to make your period come faster. That’s awesome because this girl loves pineapple! Consume lots of pineapple a couple of days leading up to your expected start date of your period for best results.
#10 PapaYA! This fruit is one of the most effective fruits for starting your period earlier. Just like pumpkin, the papaya contains high amounts of carotene. It is said to force your period to come faster. Eat up, ladies!
#11 Take a bubble bath. This will not only help you relax, but it will increase the heat of your body, which as we have learned is one of the ways to get your period faster. Maybe throw one of those bath bombs in there, light a candle, and grab a glass of wine. Treat yourself, girlfriend. Make it a full on evening. #12 Increase your vitamin C. High amounts of vitamin C in your body is said to increase your estrogen levels, which pushes your period to come faster. #13 Hot water bag. Since we clearly know by this point that heat stimulates all of the wonderful things that make our periods speed the heck up, we know that using a hot water bag is a great idea! Hold it on your lower stomach, and this should help get this in motion!
